|cozwurth||I signed the contract for my new garage today. I should have the plans to submit to the county for permits soon. Yep, this county is bass-ackwards. Can I submit a site plan to get the size and location of the building set before I submit for the actual building permit? Nope. Complete package, all at once. Building plans/engineering plans, lot lines, well location, septic tank/drain field location, existing structures locations, underground utilities, above ground utilities, etc. are required to be part of the package. Can I get the plan for the building before I buy it? Nope again. Deposit required before plans are released. Gotta love it...|

Got my 3/8" heim joints, so made up the shifter arm. The lever I got for the trans is an aluminum piece and when I bolted the heim to it the head of the bolt hit the trans in reverse or park. Stupid design with no offset. It's 5/16" thick, and not easily bent, so I countersunk the backside and used a flathead allen bolt to attach the heim and it cleared fine.
Lots of adjustment as each heim end has an inch. So I installed it, and adjusted travel to make 1st-4th easiest to reach, and just a little bit farther to get to park and reverse.
The stupid shaft on the trans drove me nuts trying to find a nut. Then I remembered it's new enough to be metric!! It's a 10x1.5mm, so went and bought one.
On the way home my trusty '69 Suburban was fine for 3 or 4 stops, and then in the parking lot of the parts store it wouldn't start! I could hear it trying to pull in, but wouldn't crank. The parts store checked the battery and said it was great. I reached down between the headers and tried to twist the hot cable and it moved! I cranked it CW to see if it could be tightened and it started up after that. So had to climb under it when I got home and give it a good wrenching to ensure it was really tight. Not sure how this stuff loosens with a lock washer on it?

Matt, yeah, I was going to dig into the lower parts of the front fenders anyway, at least as far as cleaning between the parts. That will be for later, though. I was just doing a little exploring there, since I could see evidence of past work. Next up is doing cleanup around the roof skin edges and getting the structure cleaned up.

I really didn't do anything mechanical today the wife and I are doing some painting in the house and tomorrow I get to finish the kitchen shelves for the wifes fancy dish display in her kitchen.
We did take time to stop and celebrate our 44th anniversary. We went to dinner at a local Mexican food restaurant had and awesome dinner of tamales and enchiladas, beans,Rice and chips. Mmmm Good. We then decided to go watch the sun go down over the pacific ocean. Drove a whole 2 blocks to the beach access pulled up and watched the sun go down. All in all a good day...

Hey Dave! You want to clean out behind that fender brace anyhow. I don't mind finding rivets at all but striking gold is another matter entire. Enjoy your SS fixin hours.

That was 290 ft of pushing snow with the grille. I got stopped 10 ft from the shop door and had shovel the rest of the way in to get my plow.
Found an inch of solid ice under the snow too...
Enjoy the frozen rain, Brian...

Speaking of tough, today ought to be interesting. Right shoulder hurts so bad the neighbors probably heard me trying to put on a T shirt. Already takes all my strength and a stationary object to connect my air hose on a good day. Oh, boy.
Mabe next month,,lol.

I got the rails and end caps back on the canoe, so it's ready to go in the stowage under the carport.
I noticed a little bondo on the driver side rocker, and i knew about a little patchwork on the driver side fender. I did a little exploratory grinding with the flap disk to see what I had. Michaelangelo was at it again on the rocker. Looks like it got hit, and one of those screw-in dent pullers was used. Lots of holes, but doesn't look like any rust. That's good. The fender has a riveted in patch. There looks to be enough good metal around it that I should be able to work with that. I think I'm going to section in the front part of the outer rocker panel. The inner seems to be ok from what I can feel, anyway.

I got a couple dozen holes welded up in my firewall this morning. I have no idea what the vast majority of these holes were even for? Can't begin to imagine on some of them? Of course they were the usual PITA to weld and not blow out too. The bigger holes got filler plates welded in, and 1/4" or smaller just got welded.
Then a coat of All Metal over them to finish them off.
After that I sanded down the dashboard and gave it a shot of 2x primer. Then another sanding and a 2nd coat. Some spots have some rust pits, (like the glovebox door) but most of it is pretty nice shape.

I already had untreated tendonitis from sanding for a year or two (never a vacation) when the airbag broke the wrist and doctor said it didn't. Hand is working OK as it does but can't raise it or catch myself with it with the current pain episode. The vestigal tendon between middle fingers and shoulder is unhooked at the hand and the hand is crooked on the arm and those are permanent.
Feels like theres a fork in the top of my right shoulder and a pick hammer when I go too high. I hate yelping and having people look. Tired of pain. Gets in the way of clear thinking. Helps to purge the urge and let somebody know though, don't it Tony? A little. Hasn't rotted my mood completely today but the pain makes me kinda nauseous with a snowballing headache.
Pretty day outside though, and this sandwich will do something. Hope you feel better too. I am trying to get better about hiding it.

Damn I'm in the same pain but maybe a bit less. Trying my best to do things left handed. Air hose disconnect pulled back and hose into my gut to hold it then stick the tool in with the left hand. I have two different things wrong, tendinitis in my forearm and now my shoulder. that really put the icing on the cake. Tendinitis = trying to brush my teeth left handed.
