aosborn Drum brake axles need a 10 pound check valve in-line if the master cylinder does not have one in the port the rear line is connected too, or does not have a combination valve suitable for the brake system in your car.

The 10 pound check valve holds a bit of pressure in the drum brakes to keep the seals expanded in the wheel cylinders.

If the master cylinder is below the calipers and/or the wheel cylinders you will need a two pound check valve in the disc brake system along with the 10 pound in the drum brake side. You always need a check valve on drum brake systems.

Foperfoauto Assuming all the mechanical stuff is working as it should, I found this article through

master cyl

is below the brakes so i'll need the ck valves.. i feel the rear ck valve is bad for i can just blow through it. but that results in more/less zero pressure to rear and the rear is still locking up.. going up saturday to do troubleshooting again.. hopefully i missed something.
and yes chebby is kinda imported from out side of detroit in the tri state area maybe..

rip-tide I've never heard of a chebby, is that a foreign make?

As long as the MC is higher than the WCs no check valves required.

Only used when the MC is on the same plain or lower then the WCs

rear bks locking up

helping a friend on this and i'm going nuts to figure it out.. disc/drum with pb's. each end has residual valves of different color. can't recall what was where.. anyways the issue is crappy peddle, bleads fine. after a while of driving one or 2 rear bks lock up. never have dealt with residual's before so did some googling. it appears the drum rears need a 10# valve. when i removed it and stuck in mouth i could blow threw ea end.. so no back pressure and most likely valve is bad... but why are the rears locking up is my problem... early this yr we replaced all the rear stuff. oh and he has an adjustable prop valve in rear too.
it's on a '34 chebby st rod.
