4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

I only wonder if I have a kid. When I was one, my choice was dark blue like the Corsairs that were on TV. Fighter models were hung from the ceiling, bombers sat on a airfield diorama below. Have not painted a single thing in my house.:embarrass

Isn't it tempting to bust out the SPI epoxy and be done in those situations?:D

Any epoxy and a spray gun that lays a 24" wide swath....oh yeah....

Seriously, IMHO somebody needs to guinea pig the epoxy to seal out dark wall paint theory. Car stuff is good for other stuff and that interior house paint and primer is sky high. It might be the easy solution if it didn't lift the color. No worries about sticking, right?

Pugsy I may or may not have typed it but my first thought when you said something about right foot conflict was chain and sprockets. Figured you'd take it as a rub but I wanted to say go postal. Like a mail carrier setup for RH drive.

So today, I did a bit of wood crafting after I couldn't stand it any longer.........

Just sell me the heads and headers and go LS, like you want to...:p

I finished the painting today. I had 4 1 quart sample cans and mixed them together this morning at 8 and painted over all the sample colors, well, actually the whole danged room AGAIN, then went and got the color she wanted. I had to wait until 3:30 for the first coat to dry and then did it all over, yet again. I have now touched every square inch of the room 5 TIMES and I'm DONE !!! I didn't get a pic today. I'll be assembling a large storage unit tomorrow, after work, and will get a pic then. I'm beat, another 8 hour day with a brush and roller..:pain:

No rub would ever be taken for suggestions. Every suggestion goes into the vault and I find myself pulling them out later and using maybe none, a bit of them, or the whole McCoy. Something got me googling, can't remember if you typed it either. Normally I would make up the chain and sprockets myself, but too scary. Just knowing that what I designed would end up getting loose later. Since I will install inside the car, I sure don't wanna go crawling around in there to fix it.

I ordered a Steer Clear 8" drop.

I couldn't find any internal pics, but I may open this bad boy up for a look see and photo op.

Damn, them are high as California redwoods! The A will probably require one but I have never seen one in use that I know of. I was thinking more along the lines of bicycle chain and the regular setup wasn't visually offensive to me. But under the header looks slick and mounting it inside the cabin may reduce shock and awe from the bucks-down crowd.

A spring mounted idler gear would always keep the chain tight and a good feel.

Looks like an FWD drive chain or a couple motorcycle chains.

I asked boss about the plan for that on the A and he mumbled something about a new item at SEMA from Flaming River.

Google search from your words: new item at SEMA from Flaming River

The ball socket at one end appears to give another 35°, 55 - 90° is possible?

Went to Pick N Pull and salvaged some broken halogen headlamp sockets. Then came home and converted these:

Tested them on the battery in my quad and they worked great. Should be a major improvement over the old 6v. headlight bulbs. I'm planning on switching in LED bulbs for the headlights when they go on my '39 Chevy.

The steer clear is high but that rig is free from gravity, its so high. Nothing personal but seeing these things sometimes makes me sick to my soul. My personal automotive passion is just killed a hundred times over and over knowing its all out of reach and steadily walking off. Watch in amazement and try to maintain, thats me.

Why I let my subscriptions run out and why I passed on every chance to go to SEMA... not one bit of it is useful to me. Yet I am surrounded by people bathing their rides in it. How? Sometimes operating on a way different scale than the crowd just stumps me. Its like being the guy giving it his all at the track and getting lapped, that feeling. Still must give all. Of course the thing I think is astronomical is pig feed. Wow thirteen hun. Fer dat? :drunk:

Whew, I think the thing you got is what the A needs, but probably longer.

It was a nice day out and before I got started I dumped some PSF in the GTP to stop her groaning. Thats it. No coolant whiffs and bong noises upon shutdown and thats about as good as it gets :)
