400smb_s10 Your local auto parts store should have a degreaser/detergeant that you should be able to put in your pressure washer. Or you can buy some degreaser in a can and soak the engine bay let it sit for a while 10-15 mins and then spray it off completely and then respray the degreaser and wash it off again and it should be squeaky clean.

81 El Camino Engine Swap Question

I just purchased a ' 81 Elcamino that is in good shape. According to the label on top of the radiator, the motor is a 4.4 liter aka 267 cubic inch. I didn't know chevy made these.
Anyway, I pulled the motor and transmission out yesterday. I am going to put a 4 -bolt main 350 that has been completly rebuilt, and needs to be started for the first time/broke in etc. I am not using the AC that came with the car. With the exception of the starter wires, battery cables, engine/chassis ground strap, distributor "Batt/Tach" connection, what other wire do I have to have hooked up in order for it to run?

Also, before I put the engine and transmission back in, I need to clean the engine compartment up. I have a pressure washer. What can I use to clean/degrease the engine compartment without having to worry about shorting anything out?
