johnnya Definitly an early Corvette 2X4 setup. Could be anywhere from '56 thru '61. They were only available on 265's & 283's. Most were either 245 horsepower(hydraulic cam) or 270 horsepower (solid cam).
Check the casting number to verify the year.
You'll notice only the rear carb has a choke. That is the correct arrangement. It had/has progressive linkage so you only run on the rear carb to half throttle or so, then the front starts coming in.
Check ebay for an idea of what they're selling for. Probably quite a bit.....

SBC dual 4 intake.

MAN!!! 56-early 60's Corvette for sure, and probably some passenger cars. It really does'nt matter which, it's worth a BUNCH. If he gives it to you, and you don't adopt him as a father/grandfather,then you don't deserve it. The guys a saint.

Found a treasure today!

Well i was out scavenging around today and stopped at a guys house to look at an old station wagon, well one thing leads to another and next thing i know i've got a 454 (thats supposed to have 4 bolt mains) for 50 bucks and were in his old shed looking at a muncie 4 speed with a hurst shifter and some kind of 2x4 aluminum dual plane intake that looks to be of a stock sbc . Theres no part number it has the oilfiller neck by the thermostat and two carter four barrels. It sounded like the guy was gonna give it to me if i gave him a ride in whatever it ends up on. But he said stop by tommorrow to pick up the 454 and an old RM100 dirt bike and he'll let me know. What is this intake off of? Thanks, Jake
