I actually don't want to go with a lowrider or put air bags in it. I do like how some cars sit a little low to the ground but not to the point where they're touching. Lowriders and airbags on certain cars don't do anything for me. I would like to possibly paint it the orriginal color, kind of a gold or yellow but no cheapy. There is another color I thought about and that is the car they did on the show Rides for Joe Grogan, Sick Fish Baracuda or Chip Fooses Riddler Award winner Impression. Both had that silver, gray paint scheme. Sick Fish was just that, sick as hell

I Doing it My Way
The best advice to give is look at some of the ideas that make your jaw drop. Then see if there is a better way you can do it or take that idea and personalize it yourself. I have looked at numerous trucks & I have taken pics and I am making the ideas they have better or personalizing them for me on my truck. Also be a good fabricator/welder this is the best way to do it when it comes to customizing. Personally I wouldn't powder coat the frame just in case you have to do some welding. Powder coat is hard to fix after welding where as an epoxy can be spot painted. A couple of coats of clear and it will look like its powder coated.

Like you said parts can be a nightmare if one was going to return it to absolute stock..Thais why a lot of these turn out to be resto-rods where the guy just did a nice job of the car and made it the way he wanted it to be..Look at the low-rider guys for some inspiration as it sound to me like you want to go in a similar direction,,
Air bag it (I would) and go with the custom paint..
Main thing is to decide on a theme or flavor that one wants and stick to that in the build..

Could use some advice
I have a 73 Monte Carlo with a factory 454 over 58,000 miles. Would it be more wise to build this car all original or build it to the point where it's going to turn peoples heads. I like it to be a daily driver and a top notch show car. I've been to many car shows and I've seen alot of cars that look good built original but honestly, look boreing at the same time. You seen one Monte, Camaro, Chevelle, etc you've seen them all. Then there's the cars you know the owner has pushed it to the limits to where people's jaws are touching the ground. The car has the side trim across the doors but I personally would like to get rid of that, as the famous Chip Foose would say, "get rid of the ugly"
I like to put swivel buckets and an automatic floor console which I have both.
Frame will be sandblasted painted or powdercoated, don't know yet. I know that it will take more money to do it the top notch way but I'm taking my time getting this car done. I'm in no big hurry. Besides, This is the first car I've done and I ask myself, how many times am I going to do this? Parts are a nightmare to find the way it is and I plan on never selling the car. It may sound silly to say that but I'm sure many of you experience ones can tell me some cars you've done are in some way priceless. Any advice would help alot and so far the way this site is, I have see some good info. Great web site.
