Progress not as zippy today. Been coaching on the fastback too but have only managed to clear one side of the cab for the easy drop-cab-onto-pan move I have planned. Hoping to pull that off this afternoon so the owner can see cab and blower on. All I lack is finishing!

Plan change. It will be hard enough in this position, just hanging the pan.

Now I need to devise a holding jig. A young person could just push leftward on the top right corner there and the floor would drop in but they would not stand there steady with it aligned while I create attaching points for the pan.

This is the split required in order to move the front mounts apart. It goes clear up to the board on the firewall-

The front mount holes are spread apart right now, nearly an inch too wide at 36". Once the cab and pan centerlines align and are partly secured, then I can relax the front mount spread and set width at the correct 35" by tacking that angle piece between the tube "feet" I set up. Then I can shift things around until everybody is square and comfy, run some screws, and hurry up grant Mike's wish to have a picture with cab and blower on to send to the owner ASAP. I trust that my efforts to make cab fit frame will not create outer panel damage, and hope to ensure only a reasonable amount of panel fitting drama in the coming stages.

I learned something this week that will help me greatly, at life in general. As suspected and previously mentioned, what I do here is indeed a waste of time that I place much value on. So the thread is kaput and I am free to experience life as others do. That will take some getting used to like getting out of prison does. I hope builds you guys like appear so your routine doesn't suffer but my participation in the site will be dropping sharply now. Carry on.

Sorry to hear this. I also know where you are coming from.
Its time consuming and hard to justify/ Especially when only a few show any acknowledgement for the effort.

thank you for the ride this far. I for one will miss your posts.

I appreciate it, Jim. It is my hope that you can someday apply things I've learned to stuff you do, or avoid mistakes I've made.

Its weekend and these are Fridays for you that got uploaded anyhow. Search for chevroldsmobuiac (the blog where pics are posted) or follow a pic address if you want to catch whatever else is. Must break the frequent update habit.

Still kaput. I didn't even do enough research to know if this is actually a 51 F1.

Thank you. I just enjoy watching, listening and learning. with my limited
nobility I don't do much hands on. I do use what I learn to advise my son
on his build.

Thank you all for helping me gain knowledge.

friends F 1

I stopped by a friends yesterday after noon. I saw something in his driveway. It's a 52 F1 He said it still has the flat head. . He had a Ford super duty listed on line as a parts for sale . I need a windshield and headlights. I will be back tonight when he has more time to really look it over and the F 4 Farm truck cab and chassis he has parked behind his neighbor's barn.
