I welded a nova front clip on my 35 ford when I first started the project. I got the clip at the boneyard and don't know what year it is, only sure it's a Nova. Now I am at the stage where I need some front end parts. I need to know what year the clip is and have found a number stamped into it. It is:
18 1393373. I'm thinking this is a clip from a 1973 since it ends in 73. Anyone out there know?
Greetings Beetle 9,,If your subframe has a rear steering (box behind the crossmember,, it is '68-74 If it is front steer,,(box in front of the crossmember,, it is '75-79. Hope this helps doing a '78 clip in a '50 merc soon,,Keep on krusin',,Douglas
Did you ever figure out what year the subframe was? I am currently having the same problem with my '53 Chevy. Are there VIN numbers on it somewhere? All I know is that the steering box is front steer...I was told it was a '78, but I want to know exactly for big brake upgrades and air ride. Thanks.
Matt
The '79 Novas used a bigger outer front wheel bearing than previous years, and they changed the brake calipers to metric fittings in '78.
