the drive side pattern favors the top of the tooth with .033, and looks nice at .035, I would stable a .034 in it and call it done, but it probably doesn't matter much, +/- .003 is what Dana calls out on the pinion depth tolerance.

thanks for the help everybody...doing the final reassembly tomorrow...looking forward to getting it going, 3.42's should be a nice step up from the 2.41's the car had lol

indeed it is lol

still breaking them in....there is a very slight whine on deceleration, but the new gear set is much more quiet than the old one, actually I think the whine is the planetary gears in the th400 winding down...

the 1st to 2nd shift is pretty crisp, barks the tires even under partial throttle...anybody know a quick way to soften that shift up a bit?

Your governor is probably way off now that you have made such a large gear ratio change. You may need to change the springs and weights in the governor to get the shift points back to where they need to be.
