Outside door handle

Looking for non-locking passenger outside door handle for my '39 Chevy sedan. Does anyone know if a pickup truck handle will work? Are they about the same size?

My son in law had the same issue with his 39. He finally found someone who had a locking handle and bought it. I know 39 handles are really hard to find so it might be wise to look for both and buy what you can find.

The reproductions were sold out 10 or twelve years ago. It seems that issue would be taken care of by now.

outside door handles

A little background. I'm putting bear claws on the '39 and will retain the handles. In order to use the handles I must modify them to fit a Carolina Custom handle receiver. The passenger door was an easy mod but when I got to the driver locking handle it fell apart when I tried to modify it. I've built up weld and in the process of machining it down to fit but leery of the transition from steel to stainless. Would feel much better with a new handle but nobody has one for the '39 car. Truck handles are available but the question is are they the same diameter where it goes thru the bezel and are they about the same length? If they just look different than the car handle that would be fine because people wouldn't remember from one side to another...I think. I'm all for function over form BUT a glass door knob is out!
