Paint Gun Reccomendation
Getting ready to shoot my 1968 Camaro. I'm doing a red BC/CC.
I've already got a couple harbor freight guns that I plan to use for primer. I can handle them quite well and control orange peel. One of the guns I plan to drill out the tip from a 1.4 to a 2.0 to accommodate the high build primer. I've read in a couple places that this works. So I'm looking for a good gun to shoot my BC/CC with. The Devilbiss Finishline 4 is right in my price range ($200): https://www.amazon.com/Devilbiss-Fin.../dp/B007N69IRA Are there any other (better) guns at this price point? What would be the next step up? Thanks, Sal

Now I'm thinking about the Devilbiss GTI or Plus...
DeVILBISSŪ GTIŪ-620G Millennium HVLP Spray Gun - TP Tools & Equipment DeVILBISSŪ GFG-670 Plus Non-HVLP Finish Spray Gun I believe either would be an excellent gun for both base and clear. The GTI kit comes with both a 1.3 tip (for base) and a 1.4 tip (recommended for SPI clear). The Plus kit comes with smaller tips but as I understand it, I'd want to step down on the tip on the Plus (like 1.2 for base and 1.3 for clear?) Thoughts? I would recommend Finex spray gun. You can pick one up on ebay ~$150 shipped. Ive shot several cars with it with great results. I picked it up brand new from my former supervisor for $95.

I shot my '68 Nova, several years ago, BC/CC, with an Iwata LPH400. Not cheap by any means but sure worked for me. My first paint job, no issues.
Shot my epoxy primer with a Finishline gun.

I ended up getting the Devilbiss PLUS for BC/CC and I'll continue to use my HF guns for primers.
Thanks! |

I've used Binks, DeVelbiss, HF, and some of the cheapest guns to be had. The best (for me), by far has been the Accuspray model 10 siphon, with 3 stage turbine. But I still use the Home Depot special for small, touchup stuff.
