Pontiac GTO engine

I recently bought a 1965 Pontiac GTO. The engine was built by Eckman in Idaho. How do I tell if the engine is a 400 or 455. I don’t want to misrepresent it.
Thanks
Desertman

Well, Joe, to be frank about it...

The site that I posted gives the info needed to ID the block, and the heads, as well as secondary Identifiers on the heads.

Also gives the info needed to Understand the date code

It also describes where to look for all said such numbers .

I just did not understand how "Google" was going to provide a more comprehensive outline of the whole shebang.

But , hey whatever blows your skirt up.

Sorry, I just scrolled right past that link and didn't see it.

That's the risk of playing around on a forum like this when I'm supposed to be listening in on a telecon for work.
