st3gamefarm: Thanks so much for the reply and the suggestions. I found the poppy red, but have only found the late model Ford vermillion red. May be same as what you are referring to. I do like the poppy red. I have always used PPG and Sherwin Williams years ago. I guess I should ask what brands of paint guys prefer when shooting Porsche guards red and other solid reds.

Intrigued by your thread!
I looked for a redder color for my old 56 chevy years ago. The Porshe gaurd's red was like you said a bit too much orange. I'd had my chevelle painted gaurd's red but didn't like the 'orange look;.
I found this red on a color chart for Audi's. It's mille miglia red. Chevy corvettes had the same color.

That Vermillion that you found, (late model) is the same color as it was in 1928 to present.

I allways thought that the "Milly red" was an orangy red. But The '85 GM code 82 was a nice red as well, along with WA8748, "flame Red".
It's strange how some of the old paint codes stick in yer head.

I spent Sunday afternoon on the car lots looking at factory colors. I have never seen so many variations of red! Silver, charcoal gray, and dark metallic blues were very common colors. The bright colors, other than red, were few and far between. Surprising, with so many muscle cars being produced.
