Powder Coat Oven

My sons and I recently started powder coating on our own. We bought a conventional electric oven that soon got real small. We built our own bigger one and have a question. Does the oven need to be vented. The stove had a vent that caused heat loss, the new oven we built does not have a vent.

Yes it will.. the fumes need to be vented to the outside if at all possible.

i'm curious what you built.

If it's not air tight it shouldn't be a problem, but a vent going outside would be nice in any case to get the fumes out of the shop

Thanks for the reply, We have a small shop working on our own Classic vehicles and also for friends. We built a large oven from a design on the Internet. The large one does not vent to the outside and does not create fumes, and if it did the oven is close to the door. Lately we did build a smaller one that is air tight, and we made a test run on it to ensure it met all our requirements. We ran it for about 45 minutes which includes warm up, operation time and shutdown. When we opened the door a lot of steam came out. which immediately posed the question about venting. I will submit a picture as soon as I figure out how.
