Rag joint with two universal joints for steering

Anyone notice a difference when replacing the rag joint at the power steering pump with a universal joint?

Most power steering pumps do not have a rag joint that I know of.

With a manual steering box, may notice more vibration through the steering wheel, but a power steering box prolly isolates you from small rapid vibrations... Don't know if rag joints are even used any more...

The steering shaft on my Crown Vic uses U-joints and the shafting is actually stock in a Z shape... the shaft goes down toward the steering box, doubles back, then on forward again... looks insane...

The rag joint prolly compensates not only for angularity, but also in and out motions... so that also needs to be considered...

And, finally, rag joints work fine and last a long long time...

You can also get Ujoints with a vibration damper built in if needed
