Re: 57 olds

One last question fellas , it's my under standing that the 57 olds has roller wheel bearings and are very expensive to buy , is there a timken style that will interchange ? If so what is it because that would make life easier . Later Bake

front wheel bearings or rear axle bearings?
IIRC a lot of if not most GM products used Ball style roller bearings back then.

Sorry about that front wheel brgs . I thought that someone might have found a cross match to tapered roller brgs .

I remember that on my 55 Chevy, that had ball bearings, I put later (62 I think) drums on it that had the taper bearings......Maybe a similar later Olds drum would work for you.

You could get really brave and convert your system to disk brakes.....sure would stop better.....

There is a later hub with tapered bearings that will fit. Drum brake full size GM, late 60s, early 70s

Thanks again i have a 67 la sabre parts car with aluminum drums on it is this the type of car you mean ? The only reason i ask is it involves a road trip and i'm off to work soon . I'm sure the aluminum drums are toast by now but no biggy . Later bake
