Richard Rawlings on tv

I've been following his tv programme, do his cars come up to your standards, would you buy a car from him? Comes across as a "nice guy"

I like him. He's a good natured family man. He was on Joe Rogan's vid cast and he seemed very well centered.

Comes across as a "I think I'm slick" type of smart-*** to me. I doubt that I could be around him for very long.

Agree.

I don't think I've ever seen him pick up a wrench in any episode of anything.

I always thought he came across as quite the doushecanoe.
The fact that most of the mechanics on the show can't stand to work for him more than a couple of years should tell you something too. Easy to see why Aaron Kaufman finally got fed up with him.

I've seen on another site where there is a warehouse full of half the cars supposedly made over by his shop and sold according to what you saw on the TV show....but they never did actually sell, it was just a sham for the show. They had pics of the cars just sitting covered in an 1/8" of dust.

The TV guy who actually seems cool is Danny "The Count" of Count's Customs and TV show "Counting Cars". Joe Martin of "Iron Resurrection" and his crew seems like a good bunch too.

Ian Roussel of "Full Custom Garage" seems like a cool guy with a ton of talent. The "Garage Squad" group seems pretty cool too(and Heather Storm is hot!)

Aaron is still in it here. He seems a cool guy. I'll look out for those other ones, thanks.

Way back in 2006, when Jon ran this site there was a big dust-up with Gas Monkey garage. I believe this is the same person. Do a search of Gas Monkey and Rawlings on this site, and be prepared to waste hours of your time.

i enjoy most auto shows

on TV. i do get a kick out of the send off's of gas monkey. richard seems like a small used car salesman to me. his crew does really nice work. i think any of the shows that will build u a car now with be'n on TV u need deep pockets now. yes a build ain't cheap but to own a gas monkey build is higher $$$$$$

All the fake drama and bs turned me off on car shows. They don't go into how it was done just O pretty and sales pitch. I'll watch Joe Martin some because they show you some of how it was done.

I loved the show. What can I say. He's a celeb and ejoys it. He loves cars too. What can be wrong with that. It was entertaining.

There is a guy that could be his twin brother that had a carpentry/house building show but I can't find it and maybe some here can. Can't remember his name. No tats/jewelry but same hair.

Yep, the "Spank my Monkey" deal...Discovery TV, Rawlings, and Coker Tire all in cahoots trying to pull a scam on all the automotive forums on the web at the time.
Our site then owner Jon exposed them all with his "Spank My Marketeer" expose' on them.

No, No and ....NO.

He chops up nice cars to make junk. He is narcissitic . He is all about Richard.

Aaron is/ was the brains and the talent. Rawlings is just the cash. Figures huh?

I am with Eric as far as the hygene product as well.

Don't mean to hijack the thread but the guy I miss is Lou Santiago. He was on PowerNation a few years back and the guy's talent is incredible. I wish the guy had the bucks to have his own show because it would put a lot of them to shame. I don't know why he left PN but he was in the middle of some really neat projects and bang - no more Lou.
