Shop Heat
I'm finding it harder every year cutting wood. I've been trying to find out info on pellet stoves. I have 2 sections built separately, 24x36 each. One has a 13 ft ceiling, the other 10ft. I pipe heat into the 10 ft section from my wood furnace. A friend heated his house, plus basement with one for $250 last winter. My garage is insulated but it could use more, need to blow my ceiling in my one section. The wood stove doesn't hold wood good of a night, you have to go out late in the evening and fill it up and hope for the best. The pellet stove you could turn down and fill the hopper. The only worry I have is I know they are electronics involved and just wonder how they'd hold up in a garage? Anyone have experience with these stoves?

I see no reason not to use a pellet stove in your shop. I would put up a couple of ceiling fans to help with heat distribution.

I'm going to try and buy a small used one and try it on the one side of the garage, I went down to a friends today and checked out his, can't believe how much heat it puts out and he had it on the lowest setting. I'll keep the wood stove for this winter and put up a couple ceiling fans in my tall side.

i use a 90% propane house furnace for my shop in se michigan
found used on craigslist for $300, cost me $250 per year
i have water in my shop so i heat all winter at 45*, 65* when i'm out there
nice to walk into a warm shop when it's sub-zero outside

Yes it would be nice, I can heat it up fairly quick on the side the stove is on, but once that concrete gets cold, it takes forever to get it warm.
