Should I paint this part??

OK, I bought a new bare steel oil pan for my SBC because I want to paint it orange. On painted pans I've seen, the gasket surface of the flange where it bolts to the block has been unpainted. But what about the part where the rear of the pan seals. It's rolled and there is no sharp defining line to paint to. Should I paint it all or will the gasket seal better if the part that contacts the gasket is left unpainted?

Also same question on the exhaust ports of the block. I've seen it both ways.

It doesn't really matter, I don't paint the pan lip seal or exhaust mating surface, but that's just me.

I usually don't paint those surfaces either. If the engine is out of the vehicle you could mock up the oil pan and a set of old exhaust manifolds and then paint everything. All you'd have to do is maybe some touch up once you pull the manifolds off.
