I just figured the turbo would have more top end charge?
congrats on a 12
when my car was running the same times it was identical , only would pick up 20-21 mph on the top end.

i do believe its a converter issue in high gear, we already know his converter is slipping pretty dang badly, i suspect in high gear with all the load its just slipping away a ton of power.

i had the same issue in my car until i swapped it out for a tci ssf converter that i had reworked. Once i swapped the converter on my car i would pick up 23-26mph and droped a few tenths off my et

i have to get the datalogs from him and look over them to know whats really going on though, have to get him to install a driveshaft speed sensor if his ecm can log it

btw thanks going to try to get him to 11.90s in the fall

damn ive forgot to update this

anyways his car is now running 12.70's with 1.6 60'fts and he still hasnt turned the boost up

just recently like the last few days he put new valve springs in it , i was unaware that he was running stock valve springs so he was losing power on the top end, new comp cams 981 springs installed and now the engine pulls hard all the way to redline so he should pick up a few tenths and a bunch of mph.

i belive hes going out tommorow to run the car ill post results

ill also post up his slips and videos from the 12.70 passes

i made a mistake before car went low 12.80's , he had it out yesterday but the turbo header is cracked halfway around the #5 primary tube and it was very laggy , car only ran a 13.40 but instead of picking up only 20/21mph on the top end he picked up almost 26mph

so he was deffinatly floating the valves with those stock valve springs at rpm before and loosing power

Cool to see this thread is still going, and because of this thread I'm now underway on my very own turbo project. My 1992 s10 350/700r4 is getting an undercab mounted gt45, i"ll be running a Hangar 18'd blow thru holley 750 dp and I'm hoping for something around 500rwhp(turbo is capable of 600whp). The best part will be that I'll still be getting 20+mpg and have a stock like idle. There just doesn't seem to be a downside about making power with turbo's, well, except for finding the weak points in your drivetrain.

i havent updated this in a while , but he ended his season early to tear down the engine.
hes building a hybrid 3.1/3400 engine , basically a rwd shortblock , with a fwd topend

i tried to talk him out of it as with some driveline upgrades his combo was capable of 11.70's

the hybrid engine will make more power alot more actually but im afriad with his current driveline hes going to have alot of trouble getting that power to the track

if i may i suggest not going with the carb , i would go with a megasquirt 1 or 2 ecm and a stealth ram intake , it will cost a lil more in the beginning but the tuneability u gain from the system is well worth it

while carbs can work very well its not something i recomend for a first time turbo system

also if it is infact ur first time doing a turbo build i recomend u dont spend a whole lot on the engine most first time build do end up with a hurt engine while the person trys to knock out the tune

cars almost back together it will deffinatly run mid to low 11's this year and should run into the 10's pretty far
the engine is sporting a few upgrades this year

bored .030 over and new speedpro dished pistons displaces 3.25L now instead of 3.1L
3400 aluminum canted valve large port heads are going on it this year, heads flow 100 cfm more out of the box then the old cast iron heads flowed ported
also building a real set of headers for it
