tail lights stay on or off??

ok i'v have this problem for a year or so.. on my 1979 chevy 3/4 tone pick up my tail lights will work one day... then shut off the next day.. the lights have lasted a while since i put all new bulbs.. fuses.. light switch.. and even ran a second wire from the tail light to my lamp swith in my dash.. since the switch had extra prongs i hooked the wire to one with power when the switch is on.. (marker light on) and then worked fine till the other day a friend of mine said o i c u got your tail lights fixed.. i had no idea wut he was talking about.. then he said ya they wernt working that morning.. so i have no idea how long its bin doing this.. but wut else can it be? ground you would proboly say right?? well i checked the ground and i was fine.. maybe i just run a extra ground wire also to a cleaner spot maybe?? em i missing something here?? its really startin to bug me!

Whether it's a ground wire or a power wire, sounds like there's a bad wire somewhere.
