Cool Testing mech water temp gauge

I have a Sunpro mechanical water temp gauge #8207 that doesn't seem to work. It did for a while but now it doesn't move off the needle stop even when the car is warm. I pulled the sending unit out of the motor and dropped it in a pot of boiling water for 5 minutes and it still didn't move. Would that be the proper testing procedure? If yes, I guess I'll spring for a new gauge, if not, what is the proper procedure? Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but you did it right. Should have gone to 212. Time for a new gauge.

Thanks for the confirmation! They're discontinued but I just found and ordered one on the auction site.
