Trunk sealant

Looking for a sealant that will bond the inner trunk structure to the outer skin of the trunk lid, prior to installing upholstery panels to the inner structure. I have found that there is a slight space between the inner and outer and the outer panel will flex inwards when you are polishing the outer skin. I want to fill this void with a product that won't melt in the sun or shrink in the cold. Anyone know of anything?
