Tubing-to-hose barb fitting?

On my 400 turbo tranny there is a supply and return line that runs to a cooler. The 3/8 OD line has been cut on each to transition to the 3/8 I>D> line that connects to the cooler. The lines at the cooler connect to barbed fittings and seal nicely, problem is the hose, at the other end just slips over the cut steel tubing and even with two clamps still leaks.

Question is; What is the proper way to make this transition connection? Is there a flare-to-barbed fitting? or a compression-to-barbed fitting? What is the correct way to do this to insure a no leak connection?

There are both types of fittings

If you can flare the tubing, you can use that type... if not there are compression to barb fittings.

I have a great shop that I get these fittings from.. maybe there is a hydraulic hose shop near you?

Or check out any major speed shop on line...

Do a partial double flare, just the first step to swell the end of the tube to make it seal.

Ideally you want a bead on the end of the tube, but those tools are expensive. The next best choice is an ISO bubble flare, as it is easier to insert into the hose than a normal flare.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, went with the compression fitting and then barbed adapter and it worked out well. A little more bulky than straight off the tube but it works and does not leak! It is great having you guys to bounce problems off the wall with.
