I have a new set of Edelbrock heads I am porting. I will be replacing the springs, retainers and keepers. I'm just wonrdering if I can use the valve seals that came with the heads or is there a chance they won't seal properly after they have been re-installed??
They make a plastic tool that covers the grooves for the keepers that allows you to remove/install seals without damage. The ******* method is to use Scotch Tape to cover the grooves.
New seals aren't that expensive. No one knows the conditions of your old seals. If one seal fails, will you know it? How much of a PITA will it be to change the seal once the engine is installed? To me buying new seals is really cheap insurance.
Roger that. Might as well replace them well I have them apart. Isnt worth risking to save 25$
