Vega Steering

I have a Vega steering box on 31 Ford and have way too much play in steering wheel (4-5") and unable to adjust. Box was new and car has about 3,000 miles. Who makes a good Vega box?

Vega steering

Original builder deceased, his wife has no records. Everything on the car is first class parts so cant imagine him putting a used unit on. Underside of car is as pristine as top side so because of paint on box I don't see any numbers or names. Borgeson makes a new unit and I think Flaming River also does.
Thanks

I believe Speedway sells their own brand Vega box and Flaming River Vega boxes. I had a speedway vega box in my 26 T. It went bad in 5000 miles. I had a Flaming River Corvair box in my 27T. It has a catch and tight spot in it now and needs replaced.
When the Vega Speedway box went bad in the 26T, Speedway refunded my money and I put a Uni-Steer rack and pinion style unit in it. What a difference! Easier and quicker steering response. The UniSteer is a bolt in on the Vega mount. Well worth the extra money.

EDIT: I forgot that you may need to shorten the drag link that comes with the Unisteer rack. I did.
