the best mufflers are no mufflers, or ones with the least resistance

i have glasspacks... its a nice sound. but no mufflers is pretty cool too. if you want a nice sound get some long tube headers and some unrestrictive mufflers.

haha. yeah... i set car alarms off on a daily basis. if deep is what your looking for then glasspacks are the way to go. they are restrictive buy after a while all the fiberglass will be burned out and they will be extremely loud! they get louder the more you drive.

To me the best sounding muffler is a turbo muffler. They give off a nice deep tone, especially if you run them without tail pipes. The Dynomax super turbo`s sound good and aren`t very restrictive.

Go on youtube and you can find about 10000 people who have videos. I think the deepest sounding is the Magnaflow and the dynomax ultra flow.

Listen to some Borla xls's, with 3 inch exhaust on a healthy motor, pretty nice.

i have a 79 chevy short bed single cab with a mild performance 454 in it.. for about 2 months i ran headers into 3" exhaust pipes that dumped in front of the rear end.. it sounded like a dragster.. and cops hated it.. threw on some 16" glass packs and it hardly made a difference it just reduced the "pop" and "crackle" that you get with straight pipes. recently i purchased some box race mufflers from jegs and replaced the GP's and i love it.. its not too loud at an idle so if a cop pulls up next to me i wont get pulled over.. but when i open it up its just as loud as before
