No worries. Your eight cars are five more cars than the local Monday night cruise I was just at. CURSE made it three cars total. 50/50 ticket sales were down.

That's a shame. We had the perfect day for a cruise here. I never did get around to taking many pictures but I would guess wehad 60 cars tonight.

Tonight was the first time Barb had ridden in Precious. It really wore her out and I was one of the first to leave but i still had a really good time.

Most of my crowd was there tonight.

Over 5 people, and $890.00 tickets start flying around up here.....rumor has it, a bunch of guys got tickets about an hour away from here.

It may be all BS. Gotta remember, some of these guys have a Hemi turbo cam in their SBC.....

I think it is wonderful that Barb went for a ride in Precious. Thats what I have been rooting for last couple years. Great stuff, John.

Now...

How is it that you guys call things cruises, which seem to be drive-to-parking-lot-and-sits? Not trying to be a smartypants but I don't get it. I know that meets are about friends though.

The pure, good relationship between man and car seems lost. Awesome cars in a row are about as interesting as magazine pages to me. Traveling in a group of them with zero mischief allowed is better. But when a lonesome stretch of blacktop is too tempting and you find your instinct has rolled to a stop with the sun at your back, and is looking intently at the tach and you're hearing that little lope while you position your feet just so... and the car waits for your input...

...thats my moment of triumph. I smirk, then I rip. Because I can and love to. No town required for full satisfaction.

So what do we call that?

Gee whiz, I think now I'll need to drive the looker today and park so I can see her from my stall.

Had to spin wrenches on the wife's van last night. Battery was down again, so I threw a quick charge on it for about 1/2 hour, cranked it up and put a load on it. Idle with no load was hovering at about 13V, put a load on it, dropped to about 9V. Revving made no difference. Pulled alternator and went to get a replacement. They tested and confirmed that it was dead. Not cheap, but should have it back together this evening.

It would be fun to hear different people's definitions of cruising. Police near my home back in Texas had a sign. If seen passing a given point more than a given number of times within a given time span... thats cruising.

Is it only cruising if others see you?

Was I cruising when I commuted today?

I had an odd electrical gremlin in my van the other day. It had been setting about 5 days when I went to go somewhere and the battery was dead.

About 2 weeks agoi my new stereo in the Van just up and quit. No picture no sound. I checked the usual stuff and could not find anything amiss. I forgot about it till the dead battery the other day. So I went to put the van on the charger and noticed my stereo was working again. I charged the battery and all is well and working again. The Battery tested good and then I started thinking about what had happened and came up with a theory.

My old stereo was replaced because it started losing it's presets and modes. I found the old stereo went wonky when ever the rig was started. When I replaced the stereo I thought the problem was fixed but I was apparently wrong! I have two theories, First theory is that it is spikes from the starter motor scrambling the memory and the second theory is the constant + supply going to the stereo is dropping in voltage during a starting episode and that is why the memory is scrambled.. When It went dead a couple of weeks ago I think the spike or low voltage caused the turn on circuits to charge but not turn the stereo and because of the scrambled brain it could not turn the circuitry off thus leaving the stereo in essence turned on but blank.

So far since the battery was charged back up and the stereo was reset. So far all is working properly.

I think the fix is going to consist of a surge suppressor on the on off line and a direct source of 12VDC like a seperate line direct to the battery to eliminate any possible voltage drop in the wiring.

The ugly part of this is in order to get to the wiring for the stereo I have to pull the engine doghouse and remove the lower portion of the dash!!!! NO FUN at all and a pain in the A?? so maybe I will wait till it happens again then pull the dash apart.. Oh fun fun fun.....

Another, simple, way to rest an alt output is, after you start the engine, remove one of the battery cables. If the engine dies, the alt is not charging.

I baked a cake today. Does that count for anything?

I actually did get to work on my top irons some too.

Got the alternator picked up from the store and installed this evening. Seems to be charging well, I had them test it in the store before I left with it.

Mom and Dad's 53rd anniversary is tomorrow...
