4 hour work day for me at the shop. Used the time to do a valve body swap on a '01 Jetta 1.8t auto .... I successfully installed a transbrake on the car .... that however wasn't my intention.

Its in 2 gears at once in park, all other gears (R/N/D/2/1) are forward gears.... they all seam to be first gear.

I have it torn back down most of the way. Tuesday I'll actually get the VB back out and see whats up.... but part of me wants to take it out for a test drive the way it is just for the fun of it.

Finished another section of the floor in the Rampside cab. I am having to remove and replace sections since every thing has to be formed from flat 18 gauge metal. I am about half done and will finish up next week since it is time to celebrate Christmas with the family.

Merry Christmas.

I'm helping my neighbor, doing some bodywork on a 58 Chevy Impala. I've a few weeks off, I enjoy doing bodywork when I'm not under the gun to get it done. This will be a nice car, 350 horse crate 350. Not much rust, floors have been replaced, time for bodywork and assemble. Merry Christmas to all, Dan

What I did today...

All I did today is wire up the lock-up kit for my 700r4 in my 49. Put in a tiny led light that will light up every time the converter locks in too. :D

Working outside int he rain is no fun. The older you get the worse it gets. I find it difficult to do anything without a lift.
Used to do the laying on my back stuff in the rain, snow, cold etc. Probably why I cant move for an hour in the AM now.

Ain't that the truth, I feel my Minnesota upbringing in my shoulders every time I get out of bed. Winterizing yard equipment? Ohhhh, that's right, you don't have to mow in the winter. :D Mine is in need of a trim. Time to go help the neighbor, time to fix some ridges in the roof.

My worst job I think I ever did was putting a starter in my mothers Vega after a snow storm. Being young and stupid(17), laying in the snow in Jeans and a t-shirt in 10 degree weather. After I was done my hands were to cold to turn the key in the ignition.

matts37chev 12-27-2011 06:40 PM

I worked on cleaning up my garage
I found one whole side of my car, a floor, and a wall

It wont be long and I can start working on the car again :D

This probably doesnt count, but you asked, so here goes:

I discovered that Chili peppers(and all pepper plants) are perennials, so after the growing season was done, I planted 6 peppers(3 bell, 2 Poblano, 1 Jalapeno) into pots and brought them into my greenhouse. Next spring I'll bring them back outdoors and they will continue getting bigger, and maybe grow into small trees at some point, as I saw one earlier this year that was 7 feet tall, and 4.5 feet in diameter!

But yesterday, out of the blue, I notice all these thousands of little bugs eating on the leaves! They are aphids, so I took them outside and sprayed them with Spectracide Triazicide, but today, many were still alive. Also, I used to have a pesticide applicators license when I worked 7 years in lawn, tree and ornamental pesticide application. Most of the products we used then are now banned for use on lawns and at homes, but the new insecticides which are supposed to be safer, seem even nastier to me!

So I resprayed with my own home remedy made, ironically, with hot peppers!

I spent the week working during our plant shutdown between Christmas and New Years so I'll have some extra money to work on the V8 Beetle over the next couple of weekends......

I'm 2nd in charge of our Maintenance Dept. at an aluminum foundry and I got a team of our guys together and we spent the week trying to work towards getting caught up.

I did a 1000hr inspection and service on a heat treat line, replaced the electric (& slightly modified) trailer brakes on a 36" band saw, put new guide rods and guide rod bushings on 3 horizontal core machines, and caught up on the always fun paper work....

Today I have some plaster repair to do at work, then I need to get the governor adjusted on my generator, then hopefully I'll have some time to start eye-balling the floor on our V8 Beetle......

I made an aluminum seal plate and gasket to seal up where my fuel tank line goes thru the floor in the trunk.

I also sat down and mapped out a plan for attaching the new door panel and custom molded arm rests. I decided to cover the aluminum panels with padded vinyl in a 2 tone setting. Now I just need to make the parts and do it. Hopefully next week I'll get started on it.

sportcoupe 01-02-2012 08:39 AM

what did u do?

Happy New Year! had time to make a cardboard template for the inside of my rumble seat, will start rolling a sheet of Aluminum to fit. sc

now that the garage is kinda clean :mwink:

today I got the car back out where I could work on it.
I had to drag out all of my sheet metal, to see what I had, and where it all went.
Now I just have to get all of it welded into the car.

Well, I guess the next step is I need to make some body mounts and framework for the new floor
