What's the odds of two different cars having temperature gauges fail in the same week? And one being 7 years old and the other about 3 years old. That's what I worked on today. Replacing both gauges and getting things working again. One was easy, as it was an under dash set on my '69 Suburban. The other was in the dash cluster I built for my '63 Falcon, and a bit more trouble. Adding to that, I couldn't find an exact match for the silver trim rings and white face gauge. So I bought a chrome trim ring gauge and then sanded it. But still the wrong profile, so I cut the trim ring off the old gauge and epoxied it over the new gauge's trim to make it match.
If you're like me, watch out for a third one to go bad now.
