what donor car for 54 ford customline?

I recently acquired a 54 ford customline sedan and would like to put a 302 and automatic setup in it. What kind of a donor car would be best to look for.I would like to be able to use the brakes, power steering andair from the donor if possible.I have heard several cars mentioned..zephyr,granada,crown vic, etc.Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton!

Good luck with your car! and welcome!

i have a '54 Tudor myself, and can tell you,,, IT AINT EASY FINDING HARD PARTS.

now, that said...

Try Fat man fab's for your R&P setup... its a kit that welds onto the frame and uses the stock tierods and ends with a chebbie cavalier power rack.

for disc brakes, this is a "boneyard" pick

you are going to need the spindles, calipers, rotors, bearings ETC. from a late 70's Grenada/versais/monarch.
there are a few modifications you need to make to the spindles to use the stock lower ball joint, IE: it needs to be re-tapered to fit. also, you need to notch the sway bar assembly for clearance as well.

ANY 302 will work with an engine mount kit that bolts in... get that from opies hotrod parts in dayton ohio.

as for AC... well, i havent thought that far ahead yet, and it might never get it. AC loves HP...

Anyhow, let me know if you need any other information.

Awesome,,,

Yea, one thing you very rarely see or hear when it comes to a '54 Ford is the words "Bolt on"...
and from a few months of searching and asking questions, i understand how hard it can be to find info and parts for these babies.

One thing of note, you should seriously look into joining the '54 Ford club of America. they have a website and forum such as this, but dedicated to '54 Fords of any sort.

www.1954ford.com

Enjoy, keep us all posted...and again, good luck!
