Not so productive the past couple days, other stuff going on, but hey- it's been over 3 and a half years to get this far.
I am missing a few small parts, and need to make a trip into town sometime before really putting things together so I can get the Suburban driveable.
I drilled out the center holes of a couple washers to make spacers for the clutch actuator rod, so it will be a little more inclined to stay inline where it should be, I'll take pics of that later.
I did however today make an effort to measure the crossmember and jack the rear of the transmission up enough to find out the crossmemebr won't yet fit- until I remove a little more of the floor toward the firewall. This will also move the shifter up of the seat in the reverse gear position so no shifter handle bending will be in order.
I also removed the shifter handle ball to re-etch the shift pattern in it and filled the etchings with something that would allow it to show up better than with nothing at all.
Photo 1 shows the shifter ball before restoration began.
Photo 2 shows the after effects of etching the pattern back into the material the ball is made of.
Photo 3 shows the end result after the etching filler was cured and then cut down and smoothed over, it actually looks like it should after a couple years of use, not new out of the box.
