Picture 1: I pulled the timing chain cover, and dropped the oil pan.
Picture 2: Here you can see an extra gear behind the camshaft. That is the balance shaft gear, this engine has an extra shaft that is driven by the cam, with offset weights, that counteract the vibrations of the crankshaft, while its running. In other words, it makes it run very smooth, with minimal vibrations. There are some pictures of the balance shaft coming up.
Picture 3: The crank and rods, and what not. We didn't do anything to these, just figured I'd add a picture, since it was all open anyways.
