Last weekend we made some good progress on the bodywork. Visitors can only see that we are going backwards, but we all know thats quite often necessary when building cars !.
Interior is now stripped out and being prepared for paint in a week or two. Left hand lower door hinge had a rusted out retainer plate in the box section behind the firewall. My wife spent about two hours on the dremel tool grinding the head off the bolt. Once that was done it was just a matter of knocking out the bolt stud and plate. The area is accessable for repair via the Interior air vent.
Pic.1. Right side door off and hinges removed. Left side door off and hinges removed.
Pic.2. Closeup of dash area. Floor has already had some repair work done about 12 months ago. Left Hand vent can be seen. This will be removed for access to the offending bottom door hinge mounting. Transmission floor cover also removed. This needs some work with two holes filled and a new one cut for gearstick relocation.
Pic.3. Rear of cab is in excellent condition with little of the usual Ford Cab rust. Some priming has been done about 12 months ago. Rear window will be removed in the next day or two.
