It's been quite a few weeks since I've posted anything. During that time I really haven't had anything new to add to the photo file until now. It has been a case of "leg work" with the project, all those little fiddly jobs that need doing before going onto the next step.
Although it's late autumn here in Australia we've had some real nice weather ( 18-23C )....unfortunately, because we need the rain !. Anyway, while we're waiting for rain we've been busy with more body work and some painting.
Here are some pics of the guards painted. I think the color is slightly "lighter" than the test paint on the cab in an earlier post. Just goes to show how a color can change from a "test pot" to the real thing even when the same bloke is mixing the paint ??.
Pic. 1. L/H front guard. 3 coats of Acrylic Lacquer with the touch up gun. Fairly happy with the finish, slightly orange peely.
Pic.2. R/H guard before shot after stripping all the "bog" and revealing the dents, splits and years of abuse.
Pic.3. R/H guard finished.......well almost. The new paint has revealed some blemishes in my handy work. You can't see it in the photo but there's a spot that needs fixing about the size of a 20c piece ( 25c/quarter ).
The guards will get one more coat of blue then clear over the top. Next weekend the weather looks good again so hopefully we'll get more painting done before winter sets in.
