This is a pretty new gas tank, both tabs on the pass side broke right off. I heard something rubbing on the way back from lunch today. I looked under and saw this! ... it was the filler neck rubbing on the trunk. Guess I should have had the tank sitting on something instead of only supported by the tabs... lesson learned. I didn't think these would break. Could have been a dangerous, lucky I found it. Time to take the tank out :-(
