Cab Mounts. - May 16, 2013

OK, so now the firewall has been butchered up, and I can now slide the cab forward to where I think it needs to be.

Darn it ... it's REALLY hard to move it forward! I'm jacking the cab up with the floor jack, and now it moves quite easily. Dragging on the bell-housing? Nope, looks like plenty of room there ... as it should be, seeing as how the bolt-up was likely the same as the inline 6.

So I got my trouble light out, checking from a bunch of different angles. There it is ... right where the firefall meets the trans tunnel there is a seam and it's resting on that!

So now i'm thinking I'll have to modify the trans tunnel as well, extending it at the same height from the seat base to up a little higher on the firewall. (area in red)

I suppose this mod would have been nessecary, even if I had gone with an SBC, right? The TH400 must be a little taller than the old 3-speed M/T ?

To top it all off, it's beginning to look like my buddy welded in the floor patches slightly out of place. No matter how I shift the cab from side to side, the bolt-holes and frame tabs are out approx 1/4 inch. I may be able to elongate the holes in the cab mounting bracket enough to compensate.
