I have started on the centre X member for the chassis.
I have used a concept thought up by a mate of mine which uses a CAD designed and laser cut set of 3mm plates which are then folded to 90 degrees to form the flanges. Holes are included for the round pipe I have used from rail to rail. Mostly he uses 1X2" RHS tubing on his Xmembers but I wanted round to keep with the theme of the IRS cross member.
I have used 1 3/4" round pipe for most of the X member except for the trans mount which is 1 7/8" pipe This is looking pretty good now and so far I have spent maybe 6 hours on the X member over 3 days but estimate if I did it all in one day, then this lot would have taken maybe 4 hours.
This X member kit is available from Peter at Toprodz in Melbourne Australia for around the $450 mark and make the installation of an X member really easy.
For any Aussie or NZ rodders out there who want a simple yet effective X member of this style, then just PM me and I will supply you with his contact details.
In the first three pics I am just nutting out how and where to place the X member so it lines up with my trans and starting to tack things together.
