If it ain't broke, may as well paint it. While waiting for the replacement tool to arrive, I prepped and painted brackets and cross member. My wife suggested autumn colors but I settled on gloss black and stainless epoxy from Eastwood. I don’t plan to show this car but it just makes you feel like working on the car when everything isn't covered in dirt, grease and rust.
Painted the cover and case as well as one of the axle flanges. The other flange, drive shaft and half shafts will be painted next.
Set the differential on a floor jack, torqued down the cross-member and lifted the assembly back into position. Did the same with the steel spring (it’s heavy).
