Photo # 1 shows an area where I have removed the extra mesh and material from under the spacer.
Photo # 2. This photo demonstrates the results after pulling out the spacer (welting) from between two adjoining curved sections. With a bit of sanding, these edges will be usable.
Photo # 3. After removing the “spacer†material from the edges of all the curved sections, I sand the surfaces smooth using drywall sandpaper (perforated screen-like material) and blow the area clean. I then apply two coats of water-based polyurethane to seal the joint compound and to reduce any future effects of humidity. The poly will also provide a more stable and dust free surface for gluing down the foam which will next be installed. This is a shot after application of the poly.
