Making some paint light stands - Feb 13, 2009

Photo 1 - I then bolted one a conduit hanger (arrow) at the center of the angle iron.

Photo 2 - Then it’s just a matter of slipping the conduit hanger over the top of the floor stand and tightening up the bolts at the height to want the lights.

Photo 3 - And here are the lights ready for me to start some painting. I also used the lights today for doing some sanding and I think they might actually be better than the halogens for seeing the flaws, low spots and sanding scratches. They don’t produce nearly the amount of heat the halogens do and use MUCH less electricity - the halogen bulbs are 500 watts each will the fluorescents are just 40. The real test of their effectiveness will come with my next painting session.
