More basecoat - Aug 11, 2006

I didn't think of taking pictures this day till after starting to push the truck into the garage. I tend to do that a lot.
Anyways, this was my first "real" paint job. I've sprayed little things, and frames before, but never a full body. I have to admit it's a lot harder than all of those little things (frames, dashes) lead me to believe. Although, I would have been screwed without all the practice on the little projects. My biggest problem with this paint job came from the weather. It's hard enough to paint in Florida w/o a thunderstorm building around you, but when halfway through the wind starts gusting, and you have to time your sprays in between them, you really start to wish you had a booth. Because of this action by mother nature, I felt really 'blue' (pun intended) about this bad paint job. I had streaks in the paint, spilled paint on the floor, and paint all over my hands. My hands looked like I just molested a smurf!
Thankfully after a few days the streaks faded away, not entirely though. The texture from the primer started showing through the finished surface of the paint though.
This lead to a difficult decision, sand off 50 or 75 dollars worth of paint, or hope the clearcoat covers it up. I'm broke so I choose the later.
I sprayed clearcoat a week ago, but did not have my camera to take pictures with, so you'll just have to wait for those to find out how it turns out.
One more note I'd like to add, all this blue took about 4 coats for a good coverage. Those 4 coats took 3/4 gallon of paint.
