MORRIS 48 "Z" PROJECT (CONT) - Dec 29, 2011

WE DROPPED THE BODY ONTO OUR "MADE FROM SCRAP TIMBER" WORKSHOP TROLLEY AND GOT STARTED ON A SET OF WINDCREEN WIPERS. WE DID PURCHASE A LOKAR KIT BUT FOUND IT MUCH TOO BIG FOR THIS LITTLE VAN. WE SOLD IT ON EBAY AND PUT THE MONEY TOWARDS A COMPLETE 2 SPEED MORRIS MINI SETUP INCLUDING A BRAND NEW DRIVE CABLE, WIPER ARMS AND BLADES. THE WHEEL BOXES AND MOTOR ARE SECONDHAND BUT IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. AFTER MARKING THE LOCATION FOR THE LEFT WIPER TO MATCH THE RIGHT WE DRILLED OUT THE ROOF AND WELDED IN SOME RETAINING TUBES. NEXT WE MOUNTED THE MOTOR IN THE REAR OF THE VAN. WITH THE WIPERS ABOVE THE SCREEN TO ALLOW IT TO SWING OUT THERE IS NO WAY THE CABLE WOULD RUN UP THE NARROW "A" PILLAR. BESIDES THERE IS NO ROOM UNDER THE DASH FOR THE WIPER MOTOR. AFTER A FAIR AMOUNT OF HEAD SCRATCHING, SOME TEST BENDS ON THE FLARED TUBING AND A FEW WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT WE GOT IT ALL TOGETHER AND SO FAR IT ALL SEEMS TO BE WORKING OUT FINE.
