WITH THE ENGINE AND TRANS LIFTED OUT AND PUT TO ONE SIDE WE SET THE CHASSIS BACK INTO THE ROTARY STANDS AGAIN AND GOT STARTED ON THE WELDING. WITH THE CHASSIS SUPPORTED BY ANOTHER STAND IN THE CENTRE WE STARTED ON THE SIDE RAILS FIRST. WE DID THIS IN SECTIONS OF AROUND 2 FEET AT A TIME SWAPPING FROM SIDE TO SIDE AS EACH SECTION COOLED. THIS WILL HELP ELIMINATE DISTORTION OF THE CHASSIS. WE HAVE NOW STARTED ON GRAFTING IN THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER.
WE ARE NOT AIMING AT PRODUCING A SHOW CAR HERE SO WHEN THE CHASSIS IS ALL CLEANED UP ONLY THE SECTION THAT WILL BE EXPOSED WHEN THE TILT FRONT IS OPEN WILL BE GIVEN THE SMOOTHING TREATMENT. THE BALANCE WILL JUST BE CLEANED UP WITH A GRINDER AND SANDER LIKE THE FLOOR PLATE WAS EARLIER. A QUICK COAT OF ETCH PRIMER HAS BEEN APPLIED TO THE WORK COMPLETED TO KEEP THE WEATHER OUT.
