This thing just doesn't want to go in.
It's a Autogear M-22 so everything is new. I checked the pilot to make sure it fit, checked the clutch bearing and aligned the clutch, but didn't think to check the front tranny snout to bellhousing.
Turns out it was a few thousanths over the hole in the bellhousing, plus the lock washers hung just a tad over the Snout OD as well.
So I turned down the housing a little, chamfered the leading edge and polished the ID on the bell, checked it, slides right in now, then ground a flat on the washers after re-installing the snout.
Since it was to late to try and hoist it in again, my help (wife) was in for the night, I took a heat gun to the seam sealer on the track car floor pans. Works but this will take awhile.
Also took some pics of parts I'm selling. The track car came with a lot of stuff.
Next tranny attempt is tonight I guess. It may have won the battle but not the war.
