A local tire company supplied me with a loaner 11" x 17" rim for fitment and backspace checking. This was good, because I did not have a correct understanding of what backspacing and offset were.
I thought backspacing was the distance from the center of the rim to the exact position of the tire bead on the backside of the rim.
This was not the case. In this 11" rim, the total width of the rim is 12" so the backspacing includes the .5" of the bead flange.
Good education and good fitment.
When I add rear disc brakes I will need slightly longer wheel studs and will have a thicker disc brake hat (than the rear drum) so I will need to consider this when ordering the wheels and calculating the backspacing.
Pretty darn nice looking, though.
BTW I will be going with a slightly different wheel style, not the 5 spoke of the test wheel, the big wheel looks HOT though!!
