Finally I anchored the steering column drop to the dash. I was going to use the windshield post mounting holes to anchor a brace. I didn't want any bolt heads visible on the dash. But the large bolts from the posts were to far away. So I used a 1x1x1/8" aluminum angle bent to match ths lower edge of the dash. Anchored to the post mount area with flat head screws that I plan to cover before painting the body. The 7" drop is anchored with two 1/4x20 studs from the top, and really solidifys the column to the dash, and body. I also installed sheetmetal screws from the back lower edge, into the large bead running along the lower outside dash edge. I has to slit one side of the angle to acheive the slight bend which matched the lower edge of the dash.
