The Uncommon Street Rod - Reassembly - Dec 7, 2005

Once all the pieces were back home, a method was devised to remount the largest pieces back on the chassis. A “coffin hoist” was anchored to the ceiling of the shop using a crossbrace across the roof trusses. By spreading the load across 6-8 trusses, I was reasonably assured that the load of the cab and the bed could be handled easily. Lots of padding and some heavy duty ratcheting load straps provided the attachment mechanism. The rest was easy, pick up cab, roll chassis into position, lower cab and bolt same down. Same procedure was used with bed.
