Photo # 1 - I don’t want the storage tray to be the full depth of the console box because I want enough room below the tray to run all my wiring and also, if the tray is too deep, it would be hard to see or locate items at the bottom. So I cut and glue up sides to the storage tray that will be 2" deep.
Photo # 2 - I then glue and clamp the four sides of the tray to the under side of the console top piece.
Photo # 3 - After the glue is dry, I glue and nail a bottom piece on the tray.
