Nothing much happening on the car since the last entry. Gonna pick up the downpipe on Thursday, and hopefully do all the remaining work the following weekend. So with this downtime I thought I'd explore the "theme" of the car, as I find it help me to solidify my ideas by writing them out.
Of late, I am enamoured of rat rods, and the whole rat rod idea which is (to me) to use what you have and do anything you have to do to keep the car on the road. Design exercise of a rat rod is to figure out what a car DOESN'T need to still be a car.
I have a few different ways I could go. The car has some bondo in it, but it's 95% rust free per my Ohio definitions. It is possible to put a glossy paint job on it and have it look magazine quality. And it's also possible to just leave it how it is. My best plans are:
Medium Rat: flat black paint, poverty caps, flat black rims, luggage rack, turbo sticking thru the hood, fog lights.
Total Rat: leave it untouched. Flat red primer and Earl Sheib that's already on there. Luggage rack, mismatched wheels, no hood
UnPro Touring - I lean toward silver metalic, luggage rack, mild tint on the windows, SS/AA style hoodscoop, radio, Torq Thrust Ds in a big and little arrangement.
Hot Rod: Hugger orange paint, fancy wheels, Mad Max duckbill on the back, no luggage rack, maybe wheel flairs or a front air dam, black interior.
Anybody got any ideas? I picked up some internet pictures to make the juices flow.
